Northeast Region American Society for Horticultural Science Awards Amanda Matheny First Place for Best Research Paper

Amanda Matheny was awarded first place for best research paper at the
Northeast Region American Society for Horticultural Science. Amanda,
a MS candidate in the MEES Program, won the Norman F. Childers Award
for presentation of her paper, "How do home gardeners´ preferences
and perceptions affect their pest management decisions?"
Dr. Ray St. Leger to receive Founder's Lecturer Award.

The Society of Invertebrate Pathology has chosen Dr. Raymond St.
Leger to receive the Founder´s Lecturer Award, one of the Society's
highest honors. The award is given annually to an active researcher
who has consistently made significant contributions to the field of
invertebrate pathology. Dr. St. Leger will be presented with the
award at the Society´s annual meeting in August where he will
present the keynote at the opening ceremony.

ENTM Graduate Students Compete in Linnaean Games Final Tournament

Coached by Dr. William Lamp and captained by graduate student Bob Smith, UMD's Entomology department competed for the first time at the national level in the annual insect trivia competition at the 2008 meeting of the Entomological Society of America.
